Description

Calls and Messages up to 5 Emergency Contacts

When help is needed, simply press and hold the SOS button for 2 seconds until it vibrates. The Lingo will sequentially call your contacts so you can tell them what help you need. The first contact to answer and press 1 on their phone keypad will be sent a link showing your location on Google Maps. If your emergency contact does not answer or if voicemail responds, the Lingo will hang up and call the next number.

If the button was pressed by accident or to cancel the alarm, the voice prompt will announce that the user simply needs to press the SOS button again.

Once answered the user can speak with their contact directly – just as with a mobile phone.

Unique to the Guardian Lingo is that the SMS text messages can be sent one at a time until one of the contacts responds, or the messages can be sent to everyone at the same time before the calls are made. The distinctive advantage with the former option is that contacts aren’t left wondering what’s going on if they get the text without the call

GPS Tracking

There are 3 ways in which the Lingo provides its location:

Call the number of the pendant and hang up after 1 ring. A reply text will provide a link to Google Maps of the Pendant User’s location.

Send a text code to the number of the pendant. A reply text will provide a link to Google Maps.
Then start a new paragraph with the next line:
Phone APP – A wealth of information.

Optional Tracking Platform – Realtime live tracking, event history, and much more. This is a premium GPS platform with all the bells and whistles. Personalised instruction is also available on a computer, tablet or phone APP.

As with all GPS devices they require a straight line view to the satellites, ideally outdoors. If the user is inside a large building or shopping centre then the last known location will likely be shown.

Fall Detection

Easily switched on or off, there are 3 sensitivity settings.

If the device senses what may have been a fall, a call is made to emergency contacts, similar to the SOS button being pressed. The difference being that the voice prompt identifies the alarm as a fall alert.

Speed Dial up to 5 Contacts

The Lingo gives the user the option to speed dial up to 5 phone numbers. After pressing the SOS button, each press of the side button scrolls through the contacts.

To confirm the number of clicks of the side button, the Lingo will announce which contact is being called.

Low Battery Alert

When the battery percentage remaining drops to 20% and again at 10% of charge remaining, a voice prompt warns the user that the battery is low.

Pressing the side button also audibly warns the user when the remaining charge is 10% or less.

Avoiding unwanted Incoming Calls

When the Lingo’s phone number is called it will answer automatically. If you prefer, the Lingo can be programmed to either:
Allow anyone who knows the phone number to call and speak to the user.

Allow only the emergency contacts to call and speak to the user. This blocks unwanted scam callers.

Magnetic Charging

The charging cable has a distinctive magnet attachment on the end. When connected, a voice prompt announces that the Lingo is charging. If the Lingo was off before connecting the cord, the unit will automatically turn on (announced by a voice prompt) and then announce that the battery is charging.

2-Way Voice Communication

Once answered the user can speak with their contact directly – just as with a mobile phone. Volume is increased or decreased by positioning the Lingo closer to or further from the user’s ear.

Limitations

  • The device does not have a screen and cannot display its battery percentage
  • The GPS system is regularly trying to determine location and can drain the battery quickly in areas with low signals, such as remote areas; it’s best to only use in metro areas
  • The charging cable only works one way and since there’s no cradle, it takes a few times to get used to charging it properly
  • Voice prompt files are determined upon purchase and can only be installed/uninstalled from our office in Warwick. Changes of mind for voice prompts or their length of time playing are the responsibility of  clients (i.e. GSP will not cover postage costs for changing voice prompt files)
  • There are only 4 levels of sensitivity for fall detection; off, low, medium, and high. For those with a high concern for falls, some of our other models have more levels of sensitivity (e.g. MediFone = 250 levels, MediWatch = 10 levels)
